The scones cannot be beat... truly. Delicious.
Staff is less than friendly most times. After asking for another coffee, due to a dirty coffee mug, I was told I would have to pay for it. Wanted a dozen scones to treat my work colleagues and though they were sitting there, fresh from the oven, was told I could not buy them because they might run out of scones later in the day because I'd bought so many. Somewhat awkward, not to mention odd business practice.
I took out of towners to the Scone Witch this past weekend and have to say I was VERY embarrassed. The scones and brunch were great as usual but service was HORRIBLE sadly to say - as usual. One staff member in particular that works the cash was incredibly rude and just has a sour disposition in general. She definitely should not be in the service industry. and although I love the scones - good service is part of the dining experience and will not be going back. It is difficult to get a coffee, a clean glass, and they are always out of Devonshire cream.
The food at the Scone Witch has always been excellent however; if you are going on the weekend make sur you are not hungry and you have the entire morning to dedicate to the endeavour. My spouse and Iwent to the Albert St. Scone Witch on Saturday morning and the place was very busy. We got in line and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. We were in line 10-15 minutes during which time the 3 staff behind the counter did not so much as acknowledge the 3 people in front of us or anyone else in line. Although it appeared they were busy preparing food there was not any indication regarding the length of the wait, nor an opportunity to order. When we have gone to other places that are this busy they take your order, give you a number and you can sit and enjoy your coffee while you wait. Despite the fact the food is good I don't like being treated like I am invisible and we ended leaving and going else where.
Ordered 2 boxes of small size scones in different flavours for a work party. They were excellent with coffee, tea and fruit.
I frankly don't understand that The Scone Witch doesn't have a near excellent rating. The people there are kind and considerate and the food is great if you're into specialty
offerings, those being a variety of scones with wholesome toppings, salads, etc.
The place is small, and sometimes one needs to wait a bit to get a table, but the scones are well worth the wait.!
The scones are amazing... it's too bad the guy who runs the cash is awkward and flat out rude.
very, very good, best scones i have ever had. Place is small but it's cozy. they only thing i would change is the cashier's attitude. the man is stuffed up, no client service skills at all. Lighten up man, you're in very cute restaurant that serves awesome food. you're sandwiches maybe pricey but a smile is free.
regardless of this guy being very boring and not friendly, i had and still will recommend this place to everyone...........i'm going to get some scones now. mouth watering too much :)
